Visual Design Experience
Autonomous Ferry

In a further development of the captn initiative in kiel, the visual experience of an autonomous ferry crossing was to be addressed. The focus here is on communicating the decisions of an autonomous ferry in order to convey a feeling of trust to the passengers. The large amount of data has to be processed in a visually and auditorily comprehensible way and the passengers have to be constantly informed about why and on which basis of collected information the ferry navigates safely over the water. In addition, the so-called nerdbox was developed for a deeper immersion into the technical happenings inside the ferry. This is an interactive screen on which those interested can discover the details of topics such as the airflow, the drive or the sensors of the ferry. A concept of targeted airflow has also been incorporated into the redesign of the interior. An all-round structure of louvres both on the ceiling and on the floor ensures a constantly balanced climatic conditions.
